![]() ![]() Love after the End demonstrates the imaginatively queer Two-Spirit futurisms we have all been dreaming of since 1492. Here, readers will discover bioengineered AI rats, transplanted trees in space, the rise of a 2SQ resistance camp, a primer on how to survive Indigiqueerly, virtual reality applications, mother ships at sea, and the very bending of space-time continuums queered through NDN time. These visionary authors show how queer Indigenous communities can bloom and thrive through utopian narratives that detail the vivacity and strength of 2SQness throughout its plight in the maw of settler colonialism's histories. This exciting and groundbreaking fiction anthology showcases a number of new and emerging 2SQ (Two-Spirit and queer) Indigenous writers from across Turtle Island. "A bold and breathtaking anthology of queer Indigenous speculative fiction, edited by the author of Jonny Appleseed.

Why are these seven hippos here? Did one hippo call them, too? He looks happy that they have come, but the reader is left to wonder a lot (like how long have the two hippos been there). ![]() Turn the page and here we see the two phoned hippos in the one hippo’s house looking a little annoyed that there are “three hippos at the door bring along another four.” I’m with you, annoyed hippo. A solitary hippo, alone and bored calls two other hippos on the phone (one must suspend his disbelief to guess how the hippo dials a number on the phone with such stubby hoofs). Moving on to the story itself, the book begins well. Several effortless counters later, and Bruce wraps his arm around his opponent’s neck and trips him to the ground. You still see this in recent MMA, where it’s used to measure distance and keep an opponent from being able to rush in. ![]() Lee then eschews the traditional hands up posture, instead holding one hand far out in front of him. The person who kicked, the video then helpfully explains, is Bruce Lee. The footage starts off with two men clad in protective gear from head to toe (as was the law back then) circling each other until one darts in and gets smoothly kicked to the face with a lightning fast kick. That didn’t stop Lee from cleaning the mats with him, and it’s nothing like many of the ridiculous martial arts demonstrations you’re used to where a master tosses his students around. ![]() The video shows Lee fighting one of his own pupils, Ted Wong, who was reputed to be one of Bruce’s best students. ![]() As it stands, there’s only one clip of Lee putting his kung-fu to actual intended use, and it’s just appeared online in restored form. For a martial artist as famous as Bruce Lee, there’s surprisingly little footage of him from competitions or real fights. ![]() ![]() What I don’t expect is to fall hard for her while she’s bossing me around. The story begins with Lin’s return to Mumbai from a smuggling trip we follow him through a thinly plotted litany of killings and violent encounters as he seeks to reunite with his love, Karla (also a repeat visitor from the earlier book). The book is populated by several of the same characters (notably Lin, also known as Shantaram), and it unfolds on much the same urban landscape of drug lords, corrupt police and washed-out expatriates. ![]() A sequel in a planned tetralogy of novels, it is likely to please many “Shantaram” fans. “The Mountain Shadow,” Roberts’s second novel, appears more than a decade later. The book has gone on to occupy a distinctive - and deserving - place in an emerging genre of Bombay noir. Hollywood rights were scooped up (though a film has yet to be made). The book nonetheless possessed a grittiness and vividness that helped Roberts sell four million copies around the world. Literary purists scoffed at its purple prose Indian (and many other) readers bristled at its stereotypes and cultural simplifications. Gregory David Roberts’s “Shantaram” was an unlikely publishing sensation. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I couldn’t ask them all, but I appreciate your feedback)īGG ( Philly0309): What’s the key to achieving the perfect nude lip for African-American women? ![]() In the meantime, check out our Q&A: (Thanks to those readers who provided me with questions to ask.
